(Ubud) Bali Culinary Lists: Japanese Cakery at Kakiang Bakery

When you strolled along jalan Dewi Sita in Ubud, you won't miss this little shop, Kakiang Bakery. During the survey with my friend, Monike, we always passed this shop and quite curious with the little bakery shop. One morning before started our survey, we decided to have morning coffee and take a bite its cake.

Well, the store was cramped but they still provided seating area in the shop, while on the wall there were varieties of natural products. The cakes, breads and cookies looked delicious, it was mouthwatering. I decided to have my one of favorite cake Strawberry Shortcake, it always reminded me of Japanese drama called SOS (Strawberry On the Shortcake) starred by Kyoko Fukada :D Monike choose Mango tart, which I found out later that it was their best seller. I also had black coffee and it included little cookie. The cakes was very delicious, I like this kind of cake, just like the one in Miki Ojisan No Mise. It guess it was typical of Japanese cake, very light and not too sweet. The Mango tart was also very good, well...the mix of Japanese cake with Indonesian fruit, you can't find nowhere but here.

Suddenly, I remembered Aswin, he will also love this bakery, so I bought the Almond Cookies and the Tuiles, it was a thin, crisp sweet or savory cookie or wafer made of dough or cheese. Originally from France, 'tuile' means tile in French, and is named after the shape of French roof tiles it is supposed to resemble. They are commonly added as garnishes to desserts such as panna cotta or used as edible cups for sorbet or ice cream (Wikipedia, 2012)

So, it was definitely a must to come here again. Maybe this time I will try the one in Pangosekan, considering it also restaurant. It is ranked #89 by Tripadvisor. So, when you have a holiday in Ubud, just squeeze your little take to have the cakes here. It will add touch to your vacation.

Enjoy!
