(Ubud) Bali Culinary Lists: Warung Sopa, the Pure Vegetarian Restaurant

Clean your stomach and open your heart.Happy life with Warung Sopa!

Based on Balispirit website, Warung Sopa is the Balinese young brother of Sopa Cafe in Madrid, Spain. A nice combination of Japanese & Spanish owners project for sharing with us. It is 100% vegetarian and mostly vegan cafe and soup bar. Warm soups for yogis like pumpkin, green peas, corn or the fantastic gazpacho for nourishing your body.

They recommend Nasi campur, a mixed combination of Indonesian Balinese delicacies like banana flower salad or our great Taco Rice and for dessert lovers try they famous carrot cake and the new coconut pie and delicious papaya cake, also their best chai in town. On Sundays they have a nice market for fresh organic vegetables, home made miso, natto and Sopa brand marmelades, chutneys, tahini and more.

The restaurant is ranked #77 in Tripadvisor and the reason we came to the restaurant because of  their advertisement. It looked interesting. So, during our survey, we had lunch in this restaurant. The place actually quite secluded and around the restaurant was settlement area, there was no other commercial place beside Warung Sopa. Because based on our survey in Ubud, the commercial area was near the Puri, from Monkey Forest road and then spread to jalan Hanoman, jalan Dewi Sita and jalan Sugriwa was on the West side of jalan Hanoman.

The place looked nice, typical of Japanese interior, clean, white and wood, a bit of pop color. The interesting one was the flower arrangement on the table, little unusual, the waitress said that the owner, the Japanese one was also the florist and everyday she arranged the flower on the table. During that time, we happened to see the owner, just finished arrange it. They had corner full of Japanese books and a playground for children.

We ordered green peas soup, taco rice, and banana smoothies for the drink. Well, I wanted to try their green peas soup and how is the tasted. Well, just like we expected the food kind of bland, what to expect from Vegan food? :P My green peas soup tasted like the usual bubur kacang ijo most Indonesian used to eat. It made sense because they weren't used milk at all, instead of coconut milk, so why the taste similar with bubur kacang ijo. But, I love the Banana  Smoothies.

By the way, I bought their Mango jam for Aswin and it was good. Definitely will buy their jam again when I come to Ubud. , well, it was great experience, I think it was my first vegetarian restaurant. But  next time I come here will try their Nasi Campur.

Enjoy!
