Enjoying Original Korean Fried Chicken at Myeong Ga Restaurant

One thing that we missed during our last trip to Korea, is trying their original fried chicken. After we returned to Bandung, we have made the search to find the best Korean fried chicken as one of our obsession.

Searching ups and down. left and right, we came to visit this place: Myeong Ga Korean Restaurant. We are very familiar with their branch in Papaya, but never ever tried their main branch in Jl. Prof. Sutami.

The place is very well designed. When we entered, a similar feeling begin to come to us, as we entered a restaurant during our trip to Nami Island and Seoul. The greetings of "hwan-yeong" are said by the waitress here. The traditional dress by the waitress. The calm and relaxing ambiance. And even the guest are mostly Korean.

As our main purpose is to try their fried chicken, then we quickly ordered their fried chicken, 2 bowl of rice, Jjajangmyeon , Mango Juice and Aloe Vera drink. While we are waiting, we are served appetizers of kimchi, fried tofu, mushrooms, and other delicacy. Also, when we ordered, we got free flow of Korean tea, just like we experienced back in Korea.

When we faced the serving, we are amazed with the size. It should be enough to served up to four people! Wow, amazing!

The chicken tasted very good. A combination of familiar breaded fried chicken, but with an Asian twist. Yum! The noodle also tasted delicious. Happy tummy and happy face.

And for a while, we feel like returning to Seoul again.

Enjoy!

Things We Find at Car Free Day Event: Teh Sereh at CFD Dago

If you check our previous post about Car Free Day event, you already know the reason why we loved to come here so much. Not because we are working out to make us healthier by exercising or joining aerobic class here like others do (sadly..), but because we can find new interesting meal and beverages here.

Like the last time we visit here, we found a unique new mash-up called Cingcau Cappuccino. Now, another new beverages emerges called as Teh Sereh (Lemongrass Tea).

Lemongrass? Are you serious?

Apparently, yes... Lemongrass is already known as one of the ingredients of herbal medicine in the east. So, why not mixed them up with tea, bottled them, and sell them as a regular drink (Asian loves this thing. Sometimes things can get overboard, like Japanese beef tongue flavored ice cream).

Selling price in Car Free Day event: Rp 6.000 (US$ 0.5) per bottle, or Rp 15.000 (US$ 1.2) per 3 bottle. Currently only serving in Car Free Day Dago and nearest Borma supermarket chain, but they expect to expand their brand soon.

So, if you are feeling like to try a new twist of tea flavor in a bottle, this tea worth trying.

Enjoy!

Things We Find in Car Free Day Event: Burger Ramen at CFD Dago

We always liked to go and visit Car Free Day event in Bandung, as interesting thing(s) are always can be found here. Today on the list of mash up includes energetic street dancing, rock band, and Barney the Dinosaur human doll (although not quite impressing our nephews ^_^, as they prefer to stay in a distance with the performer).

For food, one of the new things found here is Ramen Burger. Currently is hyping in the USA, and already being predicted as one of the food trend that will be happening in 2014, it is already entering Indonesia.

Serving for an affordable price of Rp 15.000 (around US$ 1.2), it is offering an Asian twist of a familiar meal that everyone loved so much. Currently they are only serving it in Car Free Day Dago event only, as they still looking for a place for opening their first branch. Hopefully they can find a spot soon, so we can regularly try this unique invention.

Enjoy!

Another Sushi Joint: Sushi Tora at Riau Junction & Trans Studio Mall

After visited site of our current interior project. I was quite hungry because I only ate oatmeal for breakfast and lunch. And Aswin went to Jakarta to do some errand. So, what to eat? I was thinking about healthy food in Toko Kehidupan, which Aswin does not quite like, but I guess the traffic rather awful, so it lead me to Riau Junction instead. I was thinking about Myeong Ga or maybe Kopi Scooter, but after I was there. Suddenly, sushi come to mind and I've been craving for sushi for days. So, I was curious about this one sushi stall in Riau Junction, Sushi Tora. I end up ordered for spicy salmon roll, aburo maguro, and cold ocha. It cost around Rp 50.000,- Surprisingly the sushi was extremely good, it was so fresh, and me like it! Well, I found another sushi place which isn't so crowded (yet) with people.

Things We Find at Pasar Kue Buah Batu: Delfiza Cake & Pastry

Bandung is well known for the bakery and pastry places, such as Kartika Sari, Primarasa, Bawean, La Belle, and so on. So, they are favorite place for tourist to buy gifts for their family and friends, but the price quite high since Jakartans the one who swarming those places. I found this place called pasar kue subuh or maybe we called it morning snack market on Jalan Buah Batu, it is near Dunkin Donuts. The vendor provided cake and pastry in very reasonable price around Rp 1000 - Rp 1500/pieces and for the cakes around Rp 20.000 - Rp 30.000.

A couple of weeks ago, my mother asked me to buy snacks for 100 days commemorating my brother's funeral and I went there. In abundance of places, I found this corner of stall who sells quite delicious cake and pastry. The vendor, although have only small logo here, actually have a small industry at home called Delfiza Cake and Pastry. Their cakes looks delicious and after I sampled it, it turned out very well.

Good price, great taste, delicious looking display. What can you ask for more?

Enjoy!
