Jakarta (Culinary) Trip in March 2014: Djournal Coffee Summarecon Mall Serpong

While waiting for the dentist appointment in Gading Serpong area, we decided to wait in the Summarecon Mall Serpong. We have not visited this mall for a while, and thing has changed quite a lot for the past months.
As it is not yet meal time, we decided to hang out in a coffee shop. Alia mentioned about a new coffee joint called Djournal Coffee and that is where we are heading.
Located conveniently in the lobby of the mall, the coffee shop offered unique coffee beans from all around Indonesia. We decided to try them out.
The flavor is strong and it is quite like we like it.
Now we are ready to meet the dentist :)

Enjoy!

Jakarta (Culinary) Trip in March 2014: Bubur Ayam Pak Gendut

One of the famous chicken con gee outlet in Serpong. We liked this place for their tasty Bubur Ayam and for the sentimental value that they provide. After all, we have lived in Serpong for more than six years, before we returned to Bandung. So this trip is Special.

Their Bubur Ayam is as expected still tasted great.... Like we always eat back then when we are living here...

Jakarta (Culinary) Trip in March 2014: Lotteria Mall Alam Sutera

After taking Alia for a meeting in Mercu Buana University, we strolled around Serpong area. As the time is still noon, and our host in Serpong just returned home after 6 PM, we decided to go and visit the new Mall @Alam Sutera.
Reaching the area around 3 PM, we strolled around, and after a while we got hungry. Then looking around for a place to eat that haven't yet opened in Bandung, we found this place: Lotteria.
The restaurant is actually a food chain from South Korea. Their main menu consisted of  fusion of Korean and Western food. Here, Alia ordered the Black Pepper Beef Burger Set, while I ordered the Lotteria combo.

Overall taste was great. It is a little bit remind us of our experience in South Korea last year. Hopefully, we can visit the Lotteria in South Korea soon :).

Enjoy!

Jakarta (Culinary) Trip in November 2013: Bhaliboel, Ruko Toll Boulevard, BSD

We have covered this place before, however, as it is been a while since we visited them, we think it is worth the coverage. The interior is still the same with our previous visit in the year of 2011. Their serving of lamb/chicken satay and lamb gulai is also still the same. Very thick and yet tender. Still producing their finest quality ever since we step in Serpong from 2003.

One thing that still curious us. If the satay here is already superbly great. How is the satay in the original establishment of Bojong, Tegal?

Only a visit there that can satisfy our curiousity :).

Enjoy!

Morning Venue: Masakan Manado Ibu Rita at Pasar Modern BSD

This place quickly becomes one of our favorite place to have breakfast, when we went to Serpong/ BSD. The friendly patron (including ibu Rita herself), the fresh food, the great dish that they serves (although sometimes it is quite spicy for me), and their famous Klappertaart and Panada are some of our main reasons to go back there again... and again... and again...
Their Cakalang (fish from Manado area) fried rice are also famous. And when we got there around 10 am, that is the only food besides some fish dish that is still being serves there. We assumed that this place has become a favorite, not only for us, but perhaps to some of the visitors of the Pasar Modern.

Really worth to try the next time you are around the Neighborhood.

Selamat Makan!

Is It Rainbow Cake? at Mrs. Fields, Summarecon Mall Serpong

Is it rainbow cake?

I think this bakery vendor, Mrs. Fields® which we found in Summarecon Mall, decided to have their rainbow cake with no vibrant color we often saw. Their rainbow cake had pastel color with only three color with green, white and pink. So, why they called it rainbow cake? And the verdict for their rainbow cake...mmm...I think I'm not their biggest fans, for us it is just an Ok, also the price not too expensive like other rainbow cake in Jakarta, it's only Rp. 25.000,-

But the bakery seemed convincing, they sold various cakes including muffins and cupcakes, also cookies and coffee, that's why we eager to try the cake. Well, the store actually a famous cookie and baked goods store from United States which has been established since 1977. But, as we browsed through their website, I think their specialty are the cookies.

Well, the place kind of great for hangout with friends and gossiping while sip a cup of coffee and shared a slice of cakes.

Enjoy!

Manado Cuisine Anyone?

When I was living in Bumi Serpong Damai or we just call it BSD, satellite city in the Western part of Jakarta and actually included in administrative area of South Tangerang, I liked to go to pasar modern, mostly in the weekend to find breakfast.

So, one weekend we spent it in BSD because on Sunday we had to come to family gathering, actually arisan at De Latinos. We had this crazy idea to walk from our house to Pasar Modern which we found out later from Google Maps that the distance around 2.8. km. So, yeah, we're kind of exhausted when we arrived at Pasar Modern and breakfast please because our stomach start to growl.
So, we searched for the bubur ayam gaul but forgot where the stall was, we just circled around and stumbled at this stall that sold Manado cuisine and snacks, there were a lot of people there, so I guess it was good. I kind of missed Manado cuisine because last time I went there around 6 years ago and Manado food for breakfast then.
Aswin and I had Cakalang fried rice, I opted for the spicy one, and when I tweeted about it @dianputi said that it was crazy option to have something spicy for breakfast, but I think my stomach was quite strong, I always had the bubur and kupat tahu with addition a lot of sambal, and then My mom (in law) choose bubur Manado. I think we also missed Manado snack, because we bought almost everything from Klaapertart, Panada, Apang Coe, Lalampa and so on, and everything taste good or maybe because we're hungry :D But no we took it home and it still great.
After we had breakfast, we strolled around the Pasar Modern and found out there were few places sold Manado cuisine, so I guess it was trending now or maybe there was growth of Manado population here in BSD. And I got Sambal Roa, that's my favorite one.
Craving for some Manado cuisine? Just come to Pasar Modern in BSD or maybe you can find your favorite food there...
Enjoy!

Little Penang: Malaysian Cuisine at Living World

As there are so many food vendors at Living World we are very much confused to choose where to eat. But as the time is ticking to store closing, we quickly make a decision to eat here, at Little Penang.
The atmosphere is very much Malaysian, and so we think we should try signature dishes which originated from the area. So we ordered the Nasi Lemak, Laksa (although it is from Singapore), and Kwetiaw (although it is from China).
As you expect from Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine, the use of herbs and ingredients are plentiful here, but in a good way. Their taste really makes us want to revisit our trip to KL few months ago.
So, if you are craving for Malaysian food in Serpong area, be sure to visit this vendor. Selamat Makan!

Miki Ojisan No Mise, The Japanese Cheesecake

The Puffy Japanese Cheesecake
Miki Ojisan No Mise, The Japanese Cheesecake. No words fits to describe the deliciousness of this cheesecake. We always rate it as one of the highest rated cheesecakes that we have tried in Indonesia. Soft. Delicate. Light. Puffy. And it gives you the perception that it is OK to eat this cake everyday (if your Financial Planner Consultant approved it of course, due to the high price tag :P).

Sunny Side Up: When it's All about (Arabian) Eggs

Went here the last time we go to Serpong. Their menu is all about eggs, and they say their eggs are also organic. We tried their pasta and other foods. Overall the taste is similar with other diners, and even in this egg-themed restaurant, they still haven't served a well-executed Egg Benedict.

One particular menu item that stands out is their Eggnog (non-alcohol). It's huge, it got egg, and in overall I can say that it is one of their best menu item here.
