Our Visit to Brussels Spring in 2007

Actually, this was our visit to Brussels Spring in 2007, around 5 years ago and this blog hadn't even started yet and we were still reside in BSD (Jakarta). Well, we like the place, and I really think their waffles are delicious, even comparing with any other vendor we found in Jakarta at that time.

The place is beside the Soleluna cafe we reviewed earlier in our blog and at that time Brussels Spring was the only cafe in the area. So, the place is great for have cat with your friend, hang out on Saturday night. Enjoy!

Dinner with Christa at Praoe

On one weekend, we are having a guest from Netherlands, one of the exchange student from Leiden University, Christa. So, we decided to take her on a dinner. After discussing from the morning, we've decided to take her to the Praoe Seafood in Jalan Sumatera.
In Bandung, Seafood restaurants are quite rare, so that is why it was great to have a new Seafood restaurant here, as we really liked Seafood (Crab to be precise).
We ordered the combination of Indonesian and International seafood menu, consisted of Fried Gurame and Tofu (very Indonesian), and Chili Crab (Singaporean). For dessert, we ordered some of their signature dessert which we really liked.
At the end we went home happily and with full tummy. Hopefully Christa also enjoyed the food here.

Soleluna: Spanish-Themed Restaurant in Downtown of Bandung

Wow! Finally! A Spanish-themed restaurant in Bandung! We're always fascinated with Spanish dishes such as paella and tapas, and we're finally able to tasted them in Bandung! We don't think there's even a Spanish-themed restaurant in Jakarta, so it really brings fresh variation to Bandung.
We ordered the Tapas and drinks, and we really liked it! Maybe next time we will try their paella. For the mean time, enjoy the review, and wait for our next visit here. Buen provecho!

Mie Baso Pangsit Miskam: Baso Place in South of Bandung

One of our cousin, Teh Dyah has mentioned this vendor many times. She says that this vendor is so delicious and fully visited every day, especially in weekdays because of their delicious noodle and meatballs. So, one day we determined to visit the place.

Fortunately, when we visited there, the place was not as full as expected. So, we could enjoy our meal peacefully. We ordered the Yamin (noodle with sweet soy sauce), meatballs and wonton. For the cost of Rp 14.000 (around US$ 1,3) you will get a hearty dish that can be guaranteed to satisfy your hunger.

Last Saturday, we had the visit to this place with Aswin's parents and thankfully they love it, they said that it's an alternative for Mie Baso Akung, since the place always packed with people and we always had to wait for approximately 45 minutes.

After we had the baso, we bought the banana with chocolate and cheese, where the vendor was in front of the place and we had some conversation with him. So, apparently this place has been here for about one year and before they only usual street vendor somewhere and he said that the owner currently  also opened another stall near Gagas Ceria Playgroup and it's called Mie Sehat. After a while, the owner came to the place, surprisingly he was still young, around twenty or something. Wow...

So, like I expected they made the noodle and baso or meatball by themselves, so that's why the noodle taste different, more delicious and we can taste the freshness, and the meatball also different. The last visit I had their pangsit and yeah..it also taste good. So, are you baso lovers? You must visit this place! Enjoy!

Mini Cizz-Cake: Dessert to Indulge Yourself

Thanks to our little brother and sister, Ahyar and Ia, who has kindly enough to bring us this delicious cheese cake. Cizz is one of the many new bakery shops in Bandung, and it's specialization is on making cheese cakes. At first there are not many option to choose from the menu, but currently it seems they have large amount of option. Today we got Green Tea cheese cake (sorry, no photograph yet), Blueberry cheese cake, cherry cheese cake, and orange cheese cake. All of them are delicious, although our favorite is still the blueberry/ strawberry cheese cake.

The next time you are craving for cheesecake, this is one of the option to choose for. Enjoy!

Batagor H. Isan: Another Infamous Batagor in Bandung

Batagor H. Isan is considered one of the old guards of Batagor vendors in Bandung, and yet we haven't tasted it as often as we tasted Abuy or Riri. So, when the opportunity arises, we go and ordered their infamous batagor there. For a price as cheap as Rp 1500/ pcs (almost around US$ 0,15/ pcs) you can have batagor, with soup base or peanut sauce. Their taste is okay, although compared with the other two vendors, their fish tasted richer. But, for that price, it is a real bargain.

So, the next time you want to have batagor, but your budget is kinda limited, Batagor H. Isan is surely can be considered as alternative. Enjoy!

Happy Cow Steak: Place for The Steak Enthusiast

At first we honestly thought this place to be just another steak restaurant that utilized the other famous steak restaurant in Jakarta. So, we quite bit reluctant to go and visit this place.
But after several review in twitter, and as we have quite free time today, we've decided to pay this place a visit.

The first time we entered the restaurant, we already taken aback, as there's no other people currently eat here (I can't blame them, as its already past the lunch time). But we decided to eat anyway.
The simple menu offers choice of steaks, salad, appetizer, and weirdly, Indonesian food (its common in Indonesia). The price was the big surprise as it starts from IDR 22k for 100gr of beef steak.
Alia ordered the sirloin steak, while I ordered the fish & chips. We ordered ice tea for beverages, as we don't want to spoil the taste of the meat.

The fish & chips is ok for me, but it could be improved more by making it not like fish nugget. Also by changing the fish meat it will be phenomenal. On the other hand, Alia's sirloin tasted great, and compliment for the chef, they can make it medium rare, even with this quite thin piece of meat. So good, I even ordered another plate of meat.

It was quite funny story, when we passed the restaurant with Christa, our new friend from Holland, she was laughing when saw the banner. She said that she think the cows are not happy that they was going to be ate and laughing even more where she saw the words 'eat me' above the cow, considered the cow said it :) When we tweeted this to @happycowsteak they just replied, "One smiling ones to cut, showing happiness to give us their best meat."

So, the next time you want to taste some steak, this place can become an alternative for you and let's make the cow happy. Enjoy!

Sari Kuring: Sundanese Cuisine in the Heart of BSD

One sunny day at BSD, and based on consensus, we decided to go and eat Sundanese food. There are plenty of Sundanese restaurant in BSD, but the one that we tried first and leaving very great impression is this Sari Kuring restaurant. During my career in Jakarta, I cannot count how many times did I eat in this place. Not just the one in BSD, but also the one in SCBD Jakarta. One best fixture that they have is that they have a meeting room, which is very convenient for me.
Their food tasted great. If you go here make sure you ordered the Gurame Goreng and Tahu Kipas, it's like their signature dishes. Overall the place is great, although price wise their's are premium. But, quality comes with a price right? :D. Wilujeng tuang!

Kupat Tahu Pasar Palasari: Great for Breakfast

One of our favorite food and location to eat Kupat Tahu. For us, currently there are only handful of Kupat Tahu vendor that are tasted great in Bandung, and this place can be considered as one of those. For the price of Rp 7.000 you can have a hearty breakfast and hot tea. And if you are feeling creative, you can ordered extra cakwe (which also quite popular at Pasar Palasari) from the vendor across for the price of Rp 750/ pcs. Hmmm... Lovely day! Enjoy!

Simple Breakfast at the Campus

Another new menu being prepared in the PAKSI SBM-ITB canteen. This menu, Lontong Kari is one of the standard dish for breakfast in Indonesia, along with Chicken Porridge, Kupat Tahu, and others. So it's quite good to have this at your own campus. The taste is overall okay, and it's always nice to know that you have options for breakfast the next time you are in campus. Enjoy!

Wingz O Wingz (Again!)

We have covered quite a lot about our favorite chicken wings vendor in here and here. So, in this post we just wanted to inform you that now they also sells new menu. We think to compete with other chicken wings vendor such as Richeese, they also serves a very hot (and spicy) food. So the new menu are spicy fried rice, and hotplate chicken wings. With one of our closest friend, Saldy, we try those new menus. The hotplate chicken wings tasted OK, but we still prefer their signature pepper and cheese chicken wings. While for the spicy rice is VERY hot. It's so hot, that can even makes two full grown man burst in tears of flame. So, you better watch out the next time you ordered the spicy rice. Enjoy!
