For a while we are searching for the right time to visit this coffee vendor, but with hectic schedules that we have, along with the crowded people that came to TwoCents makes our visit delayed over time. 

Until one day, one of our cousin, ask to meet Aswin for business development consultation. We propose to meet up here. Their design is very warm and intimate. Perfect for meeting or a session of quiet reading. They also incorporated a unique ordering system specifically found in modern coffee shop, where we pay for the meals and coffee that we ordered prior to sitting. Then we take our order after they finished making it.

We tried their bagels (Aswin's favorite type of bread besides focaccia), and their open sandwich. We also ordered their cold and iced coffee. The overall experience was delightful. One of the many coffee shops vendors that you should visit if you are happened to be around the area.

Things We Found in Keuken: Growbox

Keuken is an annual food festival in Bandung. Today is their fifth edition and it takes place in Bandung City Hall. There are several food vendors opening their stalls today and we have managed to sample several outlets that interests us.

Growbox

Growbox is a stall in Keuken which specialized in mushroom product. They are promoting mushroom as an alternative source of food, especially as meat substitute.

In this event they sell Mushroom Burger and Mushroom Hotdog. The taste is okay. What interests us is their signature Nature Immune Booster beverage, made from... Guess what! Mushroom.

At first we were not quite sure about the flavor, but after a few sip we grew to like it. Overall it tasted like Lemonade (believe it or not). We really loved it.

Bali (Culinary) Trip in March 2014: Swich Sandwich

One sandwich establishment that you should not missed when traveling to Legian area. One of the sandwich places that is recommended by TripAdvisor.

Here we ordered one from their signature dish: Chooken (BAGUETTE, Roast Chicken, Lettuce w. Swich Mayo) and one from their vegetarian menu: Lolla (WRAP, Homemade Tofu Pattie, Cheese, Avocado, Tomato, Onion, Lettuce w. Swich Mayo & Sweet Chilli).

You can have your bread grilled or fresh. The price range is between Rp 30.000 - 45.000 ($3 - 4,5). Adding additional fries costs Rp 15.000 ($1,5). Their smoothies and juices priced Rp 25.000 ($2,5) for Medium and Rp 30.000 ($3) for Large portion.

With their taste and quality, we can say that it is a bargain. Very fresh, delicious and fulfilling. I guess we found another gem in Bali, eh?

Raffels Trans Studio Mall, Bandung

Alia is currently out of town, and being a nice son, I am volunteering myself to take our parents watching Koes Plus concert in Trans Hotel.

As I am not too in favor with the concert (I am more of Aiko, Matsu Takako, Depapepe, and Dream Theater kinda guy) I decided to go and watch RoboCop in the Cinema.

While waiting, for dinner I went to the Raffels Sandwich. It has been around for a while in Bandung, but I have not got the chance to go there yet, until now...

Their signature menu is their grilled chicken and farmers market sandwich. I opted to try their chicken barbacoa, grilled chicken with honey glazed sauce. 

Their taste was OK. And it really gives an American barbeque flavor along the way.

Good meal before watching the all-time classic American movie: RoboCop :).

Kuala Lumpur (Culinary) Trip in April 2013: Subway Sandwich

We really liked sandwich. And it is very difficult to find a great sandwich vendors in Bandung.

With this premise, so it is actually a must for us when visiting other countries all outside of Indonesia, that we tried their sandwich vendor, and today is not an exception.

Subway is a sandwich vendor that has been around all around the world, but strangely, yet never made it in Indonesia. We said this because apparently Subway was opened in Indonesia, but only for a short while.

We don't understand the reasoning, but we think that we missed a good healthy franchise here, as Subway is known for it's healthy content and fresh bread. Perhaps soon we can learn to our mistakes and have this franchise opened in Indonesia.

South Korea (Culinary) Trip in November 2012: Tous Les Jours in Seoul

Our hotel was in Mapo-Gu area, near Susaek station, so it was considerably in peri-urban of Seoul. It looked like office district, so at night it was very quiet only  few peoples seen walking around or maybe because it was cold and no one crazy enough to walk in the middle of the night.

After we had eaten the ginseng chicken soup, it restored our energy, so we decided to walk around the area. We're planning to walk to World Cup Stadium, which was quite far. The weather was cold, and it was windy, so we never got to the Stadium, but we found this little bakery shop near the office area, Tous Les Jours. Well, at that time (almost a year ago) this bakery hadn't opened their branch in Indonesia yet. So, we decided to take a peak there. According to Wikipedia, Tous Les Jours was established in 1996, with the first store opening in Gu-Ri, South Korea in September 1997. The company established a frozen dough facility in Um-Sung, South Korea in November 1997, starting mass production and distribution. In September 1998, the Tous Les Jours company began franchise licensing to the public.

Inside of the bakery shop, it was such eye candy, the breads looked good, and the cakes looked cute. So, even though we were full, we couldn't help ourself  not to buy their breads, but it quite expensive comparing to BreadTalk. We bought three breads and one melon ice candy. Although it was cold, we managed to buy ice sticks, oh okay...but we took it to the hotel.

So, couple  months ago, we went to Central Park and found this Tous Les Jours but surprisingly the selections of breads, not as many as the one in South Korea and many items already sold out. The bread like how it looked, they tasted good, fluffy and not too sweet. I still wish they would open their branch in Bandung.

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Cafe Dijon

I was hot afternoon and all you could see was traffic jam all around Kuta area, even we caught in the traffic near the airport. I never saw Bali in traffic like this before. Forget about using car in the area, just use your feet instead.

Opened in 2001 as a compliment to DIJON, the Cafe DIJON Bali is a favorite spot for those who are in a rush and need a quick meal and those who want to hang around and chat, or use wi fi and work.

Different from other cafes in Bali, Cafe DIJON Bali specializes in custom made sandwiches and salads with guests deciding exactly what bread they want and what they want to put in it. Grilled sandwiches are also popular with classic customer favorites like ham, cheese and tomato or vegetarian pesto.

Thanks to customer input, we have added a whole new selection of 'all time' favorites so the menu is larger and includes more daily specials. Newer additions include cashew crusted Barramundi, Aussie Burgers, Fish Fingers and some great salads. Weekly specials that are super popular, like Chicken Piri Piri become standard menu items.

On the salad menu, Cafe DIJON Bali serves a spicy Chef's salad, a Beef Rocket and Feta as well as the ever popular Dave's Big Veggie Salad. Any salad is possible when customers can choose exactly what they want.

Cafe DIJON Bali offers a selection of home baked dessert items to enjoy with all kinds of coffees and teas. We use a special blend of coffee from the well known local coffee company, Bhineka Jaya, who have been making great quality coffees since the 1930's.

There is a full range of cold drinks as well with lots of fresh and healthy choices. Favorites now include the Lemon Lime Slush and the Carrot Beet Apple juice. The all time favorite Fizzy Ginger is still going strong.

Newly renovated premises please old guests and invite new ones as well. Open for dinner now, the café has a special evening menu with several new dinner style meals that change frequently. We have also added a Kids' Menu. Outside for smokers and inside for those who like clean air, we try to please everyone.

At the end of every month, Cafe DIJON Bali opens for a bookswap exchange on a Saturday from 13:00 - 15:30. Bring one book and exchange for one. Book Vultures, who stay with whole time with lunch and many trips to the books are a mainstay. No sales and no charges for the Cafe DIJON Bali Bookswap.

This fine establishment was first mentioned by our good friend AMK back in the year 2010, after two years then we could try their restaurant (quite a long time for a meal eh?). Their rockstar dish includes the sandwiches and their signature salad which are very healthy.


When we entered the building, after a long walk from Kuta area, we are greeted welcome by the waitress, who then generously offered a wet towel (we assume that there are several people who are actually walk to this establishment, which is why they offered wet towel for the visitor).
We quickly ordered the menu (we haven't had lunch). I ordered the sandwich, Alia ordered the salad and appetizer of onion ring. For drink we ordered Iced Tea and their signature wheat-grass juice. One special note for the wheat-grass juice that it is said for every shot of that juice, equals with several kilos of vegetable, and when we drink it, it really tasted like we are eating several kilos of vegetables hehehe... But, we feel rejuvenated already after that :).
For their food it was UNBELIEVABLY GREAT! We need to emphasized on the capital letter, as it tasted superbly great! Really an unbelievable gastronomical experience for us. 


After this, we really should try to visit Batu Jimbar in Sanur soon to make a comparison, as I think their best in Bali salad title might be jeopardized :).
