Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Lotus Ice Cream at Gourmet Garage

One of the famous dessert to be found in Bali is their Ice Cream. We've covered so far three of them, which listed into the best Ice Cream vendor in Bali. This is one of them: Gourmet Garage.

Located quite secluded behind the Lotus Department office, it is kinda hard to find the place (we passed the place twice during our stay here). But when you reached the place it is definitely worth it.

Comfortable atmosphere, great supermarket, good dessert and bakery, and one great scoop of Ice Cream. What can you possibly asked for more?

The ice cream itself made from all natural ingredients. From the fresh milk from cow's farm in Java, the fresh seasonal fruits, the sensous imported chocolate and the fragrant vanilla pods from Alor Islands.

Yummy! Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Flapjacks in Kuta

We arrange a meeting with our good friend Ari Mardawa Kencana, and his wife Magda, and one of our close friend who we always only met in the internet, but never in face-to-face, Piter. At first we will meet in Bali Deli, around Seminyak, but as Piter is staying in Hard Rock Kuta Bali Hotel and we are just finished strolling around Discovery Kuta Bali Mall, we decided to met in Flapjacks.
Flapjacks is a pancake and crepes house famous in Bali, especially Kuta area. Besides pancake and crepes, they also sells Ice Cream (Gelato) and other beverages such as Milk Shakes and Coffee.
They serves their pancake and crepes in a generous portion, with value friendly price. Really a great place to hangout and meet with your friends.

Cheers!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Roman Cafe Jimbaran

One of the great place to eat and watching sunset in Bali is in Jimbaran area. It is famous for their fresh seafood, and with an array of restaurant in the beach, sometimes it is difficult to choose which restaurant to visit.

Two of the prominent restaurant, that are also listed in TripAdvisor are the Menega and Roman Cafe. We have visited Menega two years ago, and now we tried the Roman Cafe.
The food was great, and combined with beautiful scenery (which thankfully does not include rain), we've managed to have a great feast in the restaurant.

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Massimo Gelato, Coco Supermarket Bali Collection Nusa Dua

While waiting in Bali Collection, Nusa Dua we are strolling and window-shopping inside the shopping complex. It is in the middle of the afternoon, and we're kinda exhausted.

Suddenly, an Ice Cream vendor stand in front our very eyes "Massimo Gelato". As it is already included into our list of places to visit in Bali, we decided to give it a try.

The gelato was considered as one of the best gelato in Bali. It is made by Italian couple who decided to stay in Bali and opening their own gelato vendor. We tried their mint Ice Cream and it was delicious, especially in the middle of a hot day like today.

And the funny thing is, as we slurp the Ice Cream in the middle park, suddenly everyone thinking of the same thing, and the vendor was flocked with exhausted visitor ^_^. A very good day for Ice Cream business indeed hehehe...

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Mykonos Greek Restaurant, Seminyak

It is funny to know that the best Greek food you can find in Indonesia, happened to be located in Bali. And so every time we go there, we tried our best to come and visit this restaurant: Mykonos.
The last time I go there is around 5 years ago, so I kind have vague idea on what the restaurant looked like now.

When we got here, we are shown the pictures of each of the menu and what it contains. We ordered the spaghetti (odd choice for Greek food right?), some Kebab, Platter menu, and some Pita bread.
It turned out that their portion is very HUGE! We really didn't expect it, as if we did, we might ordered less menu. But, as the food is super great and the ingredients was very fresh, all of the food in the plates are quickly disappeared ^_^. Yummy!

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Pia Susu Asli Enaak, Denpasar

One of the main gifts people brings when they are visiting Bali, the place itself is quite secluded, and quite hard to find. It is located inside an alley which if you don't know the exact location, you are doomed to be lost.

After a while (with a lot of asking questions to the nearby vendor) we finally reached the place. Even when we are reaching out the place, there are several seller of Pia (small pie) that create a confusion for you on which are the correct and original seller. But, thankfully we've managed to reach the place.
The vendor doubled as the factory. From miles away you can already smell the dough being cooked and the Pia being prepared. Delicious aroma!

We purchased 5 box of the Pia, and guess what? It only takes us around 3 days to finished the whole Pia off. Really.Delicious!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Pia Legong

The other main gifts that usually being brought from Bali. It is quite delicious, but yet as it is difficult to obtain, sometimes people opted for other vendor, such as the Pia Barong or the Pie Susu Asli Enaak.

If you are staying in Bali for quite long, the bigger the chance you got the treats. Or, you might ordered in advance for several weeks earlier via phone to ensure you got the Pia.

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Dinner at Ulam, Nusa Dua

Suddenly phone rings in the hotel room. We're invited to have dinner at Ulam Restaurant in Nusa Dua area, Bali.

Alia mentioned us, that actually we have eat here before, when I am still working in Jakarta. I really forget about that event, since it was back then in 2005, and at that time I am having lunch here with the partner of my previous company :). So, really couldn't tasted the food well if you are sitting with the number one person in your office :).

We're been told that their best menu is their signature "Seafood Platter". It consisted of their famous grilled fish, prawn, lobster, and squid with their signature chili sauce.
This menu really lived up to their reputation. Absolutely one of the best seafood experience we've ever had!

We're going home with a very full tummy and happy face :).

Enjoy!

PS: This is also the first place for me to taste ANY lobster (I don't like lobster as it shaped like giant prawn, which I dislike). The taste is great, but I still prefer crab though :).
