Bali (Culinary) Trip in March 2014

Finally, after a year of planning, we are able to set up a trip to Bali. Very excited! Alia has been mentioning about Ubud for quite some time and now this trip is about to be realized.

Welcome Home: Nanny's Pavillon Housewarming

On 30th of April 2014, we were invited to the housewarming of the newest Nanny's Pavillon restaurant in Jalan R.E. Martadinata (Riau), Bandung.

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Bebek Bengil in Ubud

This is one of the famous restaurant located in Ubud. The Bebek Bengil restaurant. I personally haven't tried it yet, while Alia has tried it once when she went to Bali last year. So I am a little bit curious about it.

The curiosity grows larger as when we got there the place was fully packed and we must wait in long line to get seating there.

After 20 minutes of waiting, we finally managed to get a seating in the 2nd floor of the restaurant. We ordered their famous crispy duck, and several other meals such as the Nasi Campur Bali and others. For me, this is the best duck I've ever tasted, and the restaurant really lived up with their name. The duck tasted really like chicken, and with their big portion, it can take 2 person to eat just a single dish.

Yummy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Three Monkeys Cafe in Ubud

The next destination to be visited is the Three Monkeys. We were introduced to this place by our good friend Ari Mardawa Kencana, from Bali.
It is an establishment created several years ago, with the concept of cafe located next to a rice field.
We fall in love the first time we got there, and it was really exciting to be able to visit this place again.
This place was famous for its beverages, and that is what we ordered here.

I ordered the Roobois Iced Tea, Alia ordered the Iced Cappuccino, while mom and dad ordered their signature juice. For snack we ordered their signature simplicio pizza.
The beverages are as expected, delicious. We are also happy to find that their pizza is also tasted great.

Hopefully the next time we got here, we can try their meals instead of beverages only.

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Kou Cuisine in Ubud

We've been posting about Kou Cuisine before in our previous post. But not we (I) actually goes to the store.
The store has very funny design, and it is very small. With all white interior decoration, it looked very Japanese from our view.
They sell their famous homemade jam and soap. The jam itself consisted of fruit of the season concoction and milk caramel which is one of their top selling jam.
They also sells homemade soap, which smells really great.

The next time you go to Ubud, you definitely don't want to miss visiting their small white store with the label "Kou Cuisine".

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Gelato Secret in Ubud

The first place to be visited in our trip at Ubud, Bali.
It is a small ice cream vendor located in Monkey Forest road, which are run by two Italian: Maria & Carlo Lentini.

Alia already make a post discussing this place here, so we won't go into detail about the place.
This time we tried three flavors: Their signature Rum & Raisin ice cream (very delicious), Salted Butter Caramel, and Avocado Chocolate.

Their ice cream are very delicious, and it almost tasted like you eaten a butter caramel and avocado directly from the cup/ fruit itself :). Really tasty...

There are other flavor that we're craving, such as Watermelon, choco mint, and passion fruit. Hopefully we would be able to get the time to try it while we're still here in Bali :).

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Breakfast at Swiss-Belhotel Bayview in Nusa Dua

One of the main fun things that you expect when going to visit a place is the breakfast time, and there's no difference either when we go here.

The breakfast is served in the 6th floor of the hotel (highest floor), just besides the infinite pool.
Their menu is ranging from American to Local dishes, represented by their traditional sweets.
Overall the food tasted OK, with two food stands out of the crowd in my opinion: their papaya jam and their pancakes.

Let's see tomorrow. Hopefully they exchange the menu, so we can discover new things here.

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Yami-Yami Express, Husein Sastranegara Airport

Hi...

Continuing the story on our last blog post...
Still stuck in the airport.
After finished maghrib prayer, we are now waiting to go to flight check-in.
Actually we are not that hungry, but knowing that we will arrive very late in Bali, and that the hotel location is quite secluded, we decided to go and have dinner in the Airport foodcourt.

There are not much option to have, so we decided to eat at Yami Yami Express. We choose to eat Honey Chicken Fried Rice and Iced Tea. One plate for two as we're kinda full. And also, doesn't it feel more romantic to share your plate with your loved one? :D.

Enjoy!

Bali (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Halaman Eat & Go, Husein Sastranegara Airport

The time has arrived for us to travel to Bali. We're really excited to go, because it's been a while since we go on vacation trip (although I'm still haunted with the qualifying exam revision and business plan report for Prof. Indratmo).
Just not to repeat the mistake being done when we arrived at the airport late, we decided to go early to the airport. Too early actually, as we arrived three hours before the flight took place! The traffic was really on our side, and we reached the airport in just 30 minutes, compared with the regular time of 1 hour.
As we got time to kill, we decided to visit one of the cafe in front of the Airport. After quick browsing, we decided to try the "Halaman Eat & Go" cafe, as it was fully packed by people (signage of quality?).
Funny thing is, the place serves variety of beverages and meal item, but no snack. Its still 5 pm, and our stomach really not that hungry.
After browsing the menu, and little bit of debate, we ordered the Iced Teh Tarik, Guava Juice, and Baso Tahu Kuah.
The beverages was OK, the baso tahu kuah is also OK, with one special note. They created the baso inverted (check picture)! For taste we give them OK rating, but they deserved a plus point for innovation hehehe...
After drinking and eating here, and with dinner hour approaching, we got a feeling that the new blog post is just around the corner :).

Enjoy!
