South Korea (Culinary) Trip in November 2012: Breakfast at Stanford Hotel, Seoul

Standford hotel obviously business hotel since Mapo-Gu is the business district. The hotel room is quite compact but still comfortable. We stayed here for two nights but only had one chance to have breakfast because as usual, we had to leave very early to catch the flight home. After all,  they had a lot of selection of foods in the breakfast room. They even had fruits, which we found rare in our visit, in South Korea. I love the salads here, so many varieties. So, as you can see in the picture as it looked, it was good.

Enjoy!

South Korea (Culinary) Trip in November 2012: Breakfast at The Class 300, Sokcho

This was my review of Class 300 Hotel posted in Tripadvisor

"Our travel agent picked this hotel for our trip in South Korea because we had to visit Seoraksan National Park in the morning. The room is spacious, and it was completed with seating area near the window. The bathroom is quite spacious, there are bath tub and shower area, also water closet accompanied with automatic washer with remote control and hair dryer. There's also a window with clear glass in the bathroom to the other room, but they provide the roller blind.

The hotel near mini mart, 711 on the left and across the street and GS 27 on the right near the junction, there's also supermarket behind the hotel. Our tour leader said that the wireless connection only available in the lobby but somehow at our hotel room in the third floor there's also wireless connection  that we could use.

I visited this hotel on November during winter time, so I turned in the Air Conditioner until 30 degrees Celcius, but I guessed the heater not quite good. Therefore, it felt very cold in the morning. There's also some stain in the carpet and sofa, so for me the hotel just OK, and I don't know why but the room kind of creepy or maybe it just me, thank God I just spent one night here.

The breakfast buffet also average but the breakfast room has quite stunning view to the bay. So, this hotel not that bad."

(ICFERMA) Welcoming Dinner at Sheraton Hotel, Bandung: The High Cuisine

It was such a rare experience. Last time I had this kind of meal it was around seven years ago in Bali, at Conrad and Gado Gado. I'm glad that I agree to accompany Aswin to his conference welcoming dinner, because he said that they lack people in the room. I thought it just like usual with the buffet and all.

So, it was full course dinner with two appetizers, main course and dessert. The name of the food reminded me the food in the television show like Masterchef and Hell's Kitchen. I was excited but of course elegantly.

The first appetizer was salad with fish. I never taste fish in a salad, except for tuna. The taste was superb, this kind of taste that Gordon Ramsey said in Masterchef, rich of taste and so on. There's a slight of sweetness and sourness.

Grilled Fish Served with Green Lettuce and Fruits Salsa

Soup was the second appetizer. It was tomato soup. It was like the combination of tomato juice with pasta sauce, fresh yet has the exact sourness and the cheese in the soup was brilliant. This is the first time I ate tomato soup and it was great experience.

Cream Tomato Soup with Gressini
The main course was steak with mashed potato and mushroom sauce. It was cooked medium rare, so when you cut the meat then you can see that the color of the meat was still red -just like in Masterchef :) It taste great, remembering me the kind of steak that I had in Gado Gado. That was how steak should be. The meat melted in your mouth and the taste indulge you.

Grilled Beef with Mushroom Sauce,
Complimented with Mashed Potato and Vegetable Stick

Next, the dessert. Well, I'm not too fond of the pudding. The taste was quite blunt. But, when I try to do what the chefs always do in Masterchef when they the taste the food. I ate the pudding, tuille (biskuit), and the sauce together and the taste was better. But still it was no good comparing with the dessert I had in Loewy.

Mango Pudding with Strawberry Coulis

So, it was fun night. It was such a relieve to have had indulge myself before the presentation I will do the next day -although I slept at 2 AM and gladly the presentation was quite good, I think- Haaah.....I really looking forward to have this kind of moment. Of course the one that free of charge - college student style- It was great experience. Thanks ICFERMA -though I didn't participate at all- and Aswin *hugs*

Smileeee....
