Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: iBerry, J Avenue Thong Lor

Welcome to iBerry!

During our trip to find Bangkok Burger Company, we stumbled upon this community mall called "J Avenue", and there besides Greyhound Cafe and Starbucks, it turned out they also have iBerry.
iBerry is essentially an Ice Cream chain operated in Thailand. It is well known to have different design in each of their chain. It is also well known for their variety of taste, affordable price, and sometimes considered to be the best Ice Cream vendor in Thailand.

We could not argue more. It is one of the best Ice Cream we tasted in Bangkok :). With only around THB 60 (US$ 1,8) you can get two small scoop of Ice Cream which for us enough for two.

Enjoy!

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Chu Chocolate Bar & Cafe, Exchange Tower

This is another gem that are worth mentioning and looking when you are going to Bangkok. Located inside an office building, just across the new Terminal 21 shopping mall, the place serves premium chocolate and desserts.
The place itself situated in the second floor of the building with the view to the bustling life of Bangkok people and it's heavy traffic. And we imagine it will be more romantic if you managed to be inside the building during rainy day. Hmmm...
We are here only for the two main favorite items: Their Iced Chocolate and their Churros. You can ordered the chocolate according to their pureness, from the mild 14% to the heavy duty 70% pureness level, but their favorite is their 58% dark chocolate. We don't know where they got this magic number, but for us that number produces the best chocolate drink that we ever have :). Their churros are also delicious, as it serves fresh and with chocolate dipping sauce, you can never go wrong :).
Well, their breakfast salad and egg benedict also the recommended dish, maybe we'll be order that next time we're in the city.

Bon Appetit! Enjoy!

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Marvelous Ice Cream, Terminal 21

This is one of the two Ice Cream vendor that we've visited in Bangkok in one day, and we can say that the Ice Cream tasted superb.

Like it's competitor iBerry, this Ice Cream vendor serves great Ice Cream. The difference is that this Ice Cream vendor uses Japanese theme, from the making up to the serving. Even the milk itself comes fresh from Hokkaido, Japan. Talking about authenticity eh? :D

If you go here, basically you will find the atmosphere of the counter almost similar with the Cream & Fudge Ice Cream vendor (with their cold marble table for mixing up the Ice Cream), but their decor is very much over the top. Very Japanese if we might say :D.

Also another point that worth mentioning is that their price is quite premium. But like Shakespeare used to say (Really ?) "What is with the price, compared with the deliciousness of the Ice Cream?" :P

Enjoy!

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: The Pizza Company Mah Boon Krong Center

Not much to say about this pizza vendor, as we go here to meet our friends from UiTM and also because we already starving :). It is one of the prominent pizza vendor in Thailand, it is like the Pizza Hut. It's all over the malls in Bangkok.

We ordered their Chicken Trio and their Tom Yum Gun Pizza. The chicken trio was OK, but the Tom Yum pizza is quite funny, as it has spices and sourness of Tom Yum Soup. Quite interesting...

Enjoy!

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: MOS Burger at Central World

Although this place already opened in Jakarta a while ago, but somehow we never tasted it there. Every time we ate their burger, it is always in outside of Indonesia, whether it is in Malaysia, Singapore, or in Thailand.
This time we ate it in the Central World Bangkok, Thailand.
What so special about this burger joint is their fresh ingredients, their funny twist on Burger with Japanese flair, and their signature rice burger.
This time we ordered their cheese burger and their beef yakiniku rice burger with butterfly wings. And it was delicious!

Enjoy!

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Coffee Bean by Dao, Siam Paragon

Coffee Bean anyone?
No, not the coffee bean that you are used to know. This is "Coffee Bean by Dao".
Somehow Alia managed to get the info about this place, and said that it is quite famous according to a food blog.
The place itself is very up-class. Most of the people visited the place are very chic and stylish. It's instantly reminds me of Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia, and Pacific Place Mall in Jakarta.
This also reflected into their price which is quite premium. As both of us is not quite hungry (I've managed to eat lunch first in the conference before going to Siam Paragon) we decided to try their beverages and cakes.
I ordered the After 8 Mint Chocolate Smoothies, while Alia ordered the Cherry Crumble cake and Mineral Water. After 8 is one of my favorite chocolate brand, and the smoothies really tasted like drinking the chocolate. Very delicious!
One other surprise is their cake, the cherry crumble really tasted great, and the size is quite big.

So the next time you are looking for a place to hangout or for waiting for your spouse who are strolling around the Siam Paragon and do shopping. This place can become one of your alternative.

Enjoy!

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Sliced Fruit from Chinatown

As I walked around Chinatown in Bangkok, I couldn't resist the sliced fruit that was sold by street vendor. So, I bought the Jackfruit and Mango, while the color of the Jackfruit looked inviting, the Mango wasn't but the vendor told me that it was sweet. The cost for the Jackfruit was THB 30 and the Mango THB 25, quite reasonable. The fruit was lasted in the hotel refrigerator until our last day in Bangkok and before we checked out from the hotel, we ate the Jackfruit, we took the Mango with us for snacks while we were waiting at the airport.

Bangkok (Culinary) Trip in July 2012: Another Hound Cafe, Siam Paragon

Got a craving for Italian food, but you want something different with the other Italian food that you have? Then Another Hound Cafe is the place you should go.
It's a branch of the already famous Greyhound Cafe, and like their tagline, serving Italian taste with Thai twist, this place serves variety of Italian and other western food that are infused with Thai spices.
Their location is scattered around Thailand, especially Bangkok, and the place we visited is the one in Siam Paragon. The design and feeling of the restaurant is very modern and minimalist, and it's suits perfectly with the people who are visiting it. Very hip and trendy.
We ordered the Chicken Wing (it's highly recommended so they say), and their Thai Anchovy Spaghetti (Another top menu). For drinks Alia ordered the Pink Journey, while I ordered the Lychee Shake.
And yes, they are right. It is delicious. The spaghetti has Thai spices twist, while the chicken wing is dipped into fish sauce before frying, making it very delicious.

Really a place worth visiting if you go to Thailand.

Enjoy!
