Morning Venue: Nasi Kuning Ibu Nini, Cikawao

One day, I decided to do another crazy stunt, by walking from my house to Cikawao just to buy a bread (what can you expect from two university students eh? :D). The distance according to Google Maps reached around 4,3 km for one trip, or 8,6 km for return trip. Quite a walk just for a slice of bread eh? :P.

That's why when I reached there, and find a crowded Nasi Kuning vendor in Jl. Cikawao, I couldn't help myself to try them :). It turned out OK, as the Nasi Kuning tasted rich and also quite cheap (around Rp 7.000/ portion), although for me I still prefer the one near Hasan Sadikin Hospital.

Enjoy!

Daisy's Steak & Grill

It was after such a long day, I had to go to government office for survey permit of my research. It was quite exhausted because sometimes you need the extra energy to meet them, all the bureaucracy and not practical thing.

Actually this restaurant had opened two years but we haven't got the chance to come. Sometimes we forgot of the place because their location is secluded and nothing attractive about their facade. We only curious because their logo kind of remind us about American Diner.

So, we went there because it happened that we're in the area and passed the street on our way home and we hadn't have our lunch. The place was empty, there's nobody eat there and I was in doubt, "Really? Why there's nobody here? Is it because the food not good?" But Aswin insisted to have lunch there and I agree when I saw the credit card ads with text 40% discount. Wowww....yesss, we have a lunch here :) I'm sucker for discount things, especially related to food
It was nice actually, the emptiness of the place was relaxing and the food surprisingly good, though Aswin was disappointed because they can't make the steak in medium rare, close...but it as medium. I ordered beef quesadilas, while Aswin ordered sirloin steak with mushroom sauce. For the drink, because I hadn't have my coffee this morning, so I ordered their illy black coffee and Aswin was pinacolada. By the way, for our appetizer Aswin had onion rings and we both agree that it was the best onion rings we ever tried. It was crispy and the shape was good, thumb up!

As our dishes were finish, Aswin looked up the menu and see all other food they served and so he ordered another, the chilly. He said that when last time we ate chilly, ok, and the chilly was good, they served it with garlic bread.

So, we had good food and we had 40% discount also and we're considering that it making this day great!

So, Daisy's anyone?

Reunion at The Kiosk Pasar Dago

My university friend, Ocha, who is living in Denhaag, Holland, was coming to Bandung last Wednesday. So, we were having 'reuni dadakan' with other our friends who still in Bandung, Ramala and Luki. So, I think The Kiosk is the best place to meet with people from outside of Bandung, especially from abroad because there's a range of Bandung special food in one place, such as lotek, ketan bakar, mie kocok, etc.

It has been a while since we're going here because there always new eating place in Bandung every week and The Kiosk kind of forgotten. Before we came there, we picked up, actually kidnapped Ramala from her workplace because she had a deadline. The traffic that afternoon was horrible maybe because the day after that was the first day of long weekend in Indonesia. So, it was quite packed but it  was lucky for us there's empty parking spot just in front of the building.

After we arrived, we were really not that hungry, but I guess we kind of overwhelmed so we ordered so much even before Ocha came. There's gorengan from Simanalagi, tahu gejrot, and ketan bakar. For our early dinner, I picked lotek (spicy one!) and timun suri ice with orange, Aswin had fried rice and ice tea, Ramala ordered affogato. After Ocha came, there were array of foods  but we didn't have the chance to take the pictures, because maybe we were amaze by how her son cuteness or maybe because he was so active :) So, after that we also had our friend, Luki, who was known for Batik Fractal, decided to came and gave us a little time in all his business.

So,  Enjoy!

What to Eat while it was Raining? Bakmi Parahyangan

It was raining. It was cold. And after we were visiting Pak Yayan to fix our cameras and lens, we were kind of hungry and we just parked the car right in front of the noodle shop. Actually, I asked Aswin whether we had our dinner at this Bakmi Parahyangan or Yami Yami which was just across the street, but I guess we were too lazy to cross the street so we just picked Bakmi Parahyangan.

Actually I already know this Bakmi Parahyangan since I was a little because I often went to Alun-alun for shopping and my parents usually took me there to eat. So, their first branch is on Jl. Dalem Kaum and recently they also opened another branch on Jl. Sukajadi and this place we're visiting was on Jl. Sunda. Aswin ordered Mie Yamien Rica with Baso Goreng and two hot tea, I was trying to have clean eating so I ordered none, but unfortunately the noodle was too spicy for Aswin, so he only finished half of it and yes..can't resist the temptation of spicy food, I just finished it very fast, I guess I was hungry.

I think it was not so bad and I like this Mie Rica because I can't find noodle like this in other place. So, it was perfect meal for rainy and cold night. Enjoy!

Simple Hotdog with Garlic Bread

What happened if you have a great garlic bread from Setiabudi Market, a good piece of beef franks, and an empty stomach? Then it's a hot dog waiting to happened :).

For the recipe is quite simple. Just grilled two pieces of beef franks until it's charred. Meanwhile, cut the garlic bread into two pieces and slice them, smother them with garlic butter/ margarine, mayo, and your choice of mustard. Place the beef franks in between the bread, and you're good to go! Enjoy!

Yoshinoya at ITC Kuningan

Yoshinoya has been rave by everyone that it has delicious taste and considering it as recommended fast food.

Actually, we've been seeing this restaurant at Grand Indonesia but haven't had the chance to try. So, it was our usual trip to Jakarta, I forget the occasion, and Aswin had planned to go to ITC Kuningan to buy the screen guard & also case for Creative Ziio. We couldn't find it anywhere in Bandung, well maybe because not many people aware of the gadget.

After we got the screen guard and case for the Ziio, we looked around to find places to eat here. Suddenly Alia remembered that there's a Yoshinoya branch just opened here in ITC Kuningan. After a while searching for the location (it turned out they opened a new section in the mall), we finally found the place.

We ordered their signature dishes from the menu (actually it's been a while, so we've kinda forget the correct item that we ordered. Will inform you on our next visit there). The taste was very great! No wonder they mentioned it was the number one beef bowl in Japan. Look forward to go there again soon. In the mean time, Itadakimashu!

Mangkok Ayam at Setiabudi Market

I think it was our 4th visit to Mangkok Ayam, last time we were here, we're meeting my friends, @dianputi who had vacation in Bandung. We haven't write in here about this Mangkok Ayam. Actually, Setiabudi Supermarket has been my favorite supermarket in Bandung, but considering the location is quite away from our current house (around 6 km), so we rarely visiting this place. There's two eating place we love in the Supermarket, The Kiosk and Mangkok Ayam.

Mangkok Ayam is known for it's Bakmi Rendang, the hot and spicy noodle. We've been recommended to go here and taste the Bakmi. At the first visit to the Mangkok Ayam, I tried the Bakmi Rendang which had very hot and spicy flavor and yes! it was HOT!! What I can see was chilli all over the noodle and even more at the base of the bowl. If I could explain how spicy it was maybe it was like Mak Icih Lv. 10 or maybe more, like the Richeese Chicken Wings Lv. 5. I guess it was very spicy.

But the last two times visit, the Bakmi Rendang wasn't too hot. We assumed that they discontinued the very very very hot Bakmi Rendang because many people complained about it. That's sad for me because I think what interesting from this place is the very hot Bakmi, but I think people like Aswin who don't like spicy food would say, "Alhamdulillah, the evil has gone!" :D But still they put the picture of Bakmi Rendang in fire.

So, enough about the Bakmi Rendang, at our visit this time, Aswin ordered Hainan Rice with Duck which cost around Rp. 25.000,- and I just ordered Kuotie because I already ate Doner Kebab, but I think I can't resist the temptation of the Bakmi Rendang, so I ordered one and hope the very hot one taste like the first time we're here, but no, it wasn't.

The interior of restaurant itself has chicken theme, from statue to the lamp, and near the cashier I saw a lot of statue with neon color, which I thought it looked like Pokemon and Pikachu, but actually it was chicken and it was a gift for the customer for every payment Rp. 75.000,-. So, we got one and I picked the blue one, cute! I had the little statue duck from Conrad and now I had this one :)

So, forget about Indomie Rendang the taste not as good as this. Enjoy!
